Just Another Boring Rant
For a long time I have been trying to use Wordpress and other blogging programs. When they are working, they are great. When they are not, well, they suck FAR too much of my time figuring out what is wrong and how to fix it. Sometimes it is user error, sometimes it is some quirk due to a plug-in that needs updating, or some file I messed with. Sometimes it is just my browser that is causing the issue.
I won't get into the latest issue, but it was a weird quirk. I tried to fix it, and messed something else up. A search showed that I was not the only one with the problem, but there was no decent solution. I did eventually figure out a fix, but......
Meanwhile, my super low tech homepage just keeps plugging along. More importantly, I can load my entire website on my computer, or a flash drive, or my phone for off-line use. Last night I was trying to show someone a few videos. No WiFi, and video takes up too much data, but since everything is stored on my phone, I was able to pull it up and bore them, err, I mean show them my videos. No BLOG allows that.
EDIT: Shortly after I made this post, everything changed. I was without access to a computer for a short bit and tried to send out notifications as I always do. It turns out that phone e-mail apps don't let you do the things that can on a computer. It turns out the only way to notify people of new posts when on the road and only with phone access is to use the subscription option on my BLOG. This is also WAY easier for me even when I do have a computer.
So, I will keep this blog up, with links to my stories on my web site and maybe some of the stories will be there too. If you want to know when I have new posts either here or in my blog, sign up there.
EDIT -> I gave up on the Subscribe as well. I will go back to the old system of e-mail notifications, but if people want to subscribe, that is fine. I will occasionally put links on the blog to let readers know I have new posts on my website. Chances are I will change all of this at some later date anyway. I never learn.
